Week 10 Journal 52 prompt - Art for a cause. 

 

 

I chose MIND http://www.mind.org.uk/ as my cause. MIND is a mental health charity, who provide advice and support for anyone with any type of mental health issue. 

 

There are so many different types of mental health issues and often people are to ashamed or to embarrassed to talk about them. So many people live day to day with undiagnosed mental health illnesses and it is a terrible shame that these people aren't receiving the care and support they need. 

 

My idea for this art journal page, is a woman at her wits end. She is upset, frustrated, angry, sad. So many emotions all at once. She is overwhelmed.

I drew a face of a woman screaming, I wanted all her emotions to show on her face.

 

I used watercolour paints to create a splattered effect in the background to depict her hair but also it's like her mind is exploding.  I know most of us have had those moments when we just want to scream and I feel I have captured that emotion on this page.
