My Art Journal page for Krazy Island studio prompt -  June week 3 - Napkin

 

I had recently purchased a lovely pack of patterned napkins in my supplies haul. So I decided to use one of my new napkins for this prompt. I began the page by applying a coat of gesso across the whole double page spread.

Next I took the napkin and cut around the diamond shapes, I then glued the shapes which I had cut from the napkin onto my page.

I used Liquitex fluid matte medium to adhere the napkin down, this did work but the napkin was very fragile when wet with glue and it tore in several places. 

Once dry I used a Stabilo marks all black pencil to outline around the napkin, I then went over the pencil lines with a water brush to activate the pencil and the result of which is a watercolour effect.

I had a drawing of a face which I had done awhile ago, it was created using charcoal pencil, sanguine dry stick, sepia light pencil and sanguine oil pencil (this was my first ever drawing using these pencils). 

I chose to included my drawing on this page as the colours in the drawing and the napkin went well together. I cut out the face and then stuck it down. Once dry I retouched the drawing and added more details. I then journaled in the white space between the napkin on my page. 

Finally I added some coordinating washi tape to the page and then stuck down some chipboard letters to spell out the word Believe.
