Creative Hands
Week 18 Journal 52 Prompt:
Creative Hands.
I have for sometime admired Aboriginal art.
I find the use of dots in the artwork simple and yet extremely creative. I really enjoy looking at the patterns and the wonderful colours.
Therefore I decided to try out a dot picture for myself. It seemed fitting for this prompt.
I started with some brown paper out of my recycling box, I crumpled up the brown paper and then tore away a little piece at the side for a more rustic effect. I then researched dot paintings of hands on Google images and also on Pinterest. I got lots of inspiration and from that I chose to use earth toned paint colours. Browns/ Reds and Yellows.
I drew around my own hands on to the brown paper. Then I began adding the dots.
I used the eraser at the end of a pencil for the larger dots. The tip of a cotton bud for the medium sized dots and a cocktail stick for the tiny dots. I added the date and title. Then to complete the page I used some black paint to fill in the space where I had torn the brown paper at the beginning.
Even though the process of making this page was relatively simple, it was quite time consuming. However I still enjoyed making this page and was happy with the final result.
