Favourite Food
Week 32 Prompt for Journal 52 : Favourite Food.
I love spicy food! So I thought it would be fitting to have a lovely bright red chilli pepper as the centre of this page. I drew out a chili pepper shape onto a piece of plain copy paper and then painted it using Salsa red emulsion paint (from a tester pot).
Whilst drying, I looked through my stash of scraps, in search of any patterned papers or any embellishments I might like to add on to this Art journal page.
After gathering a good selection of scrap papers etc, I began to decorate the background of my page.
Firstly I painted the top part of the page with a bright yellow acrylic paint. I then stuck down a section from a brown coloured napkin, which I had found in my stash of scraps. I then glued down a piece of red patterned scrapbook paper to finish covering the background. Next I cut out my red chilli pepper and put to one side.
Before sticking down the Chili pepper I wanted to make a more interesting and creative background, I cut strips from different scrap papers I had found and then positioned them on my page, once I was happy with there placement I glued them down. I still wanted to add more texture so I used my trusty stencils and used acrylic paint through them.
Once the background was dry, I added the cut out red chili pepper, the page was almost complete. However I felt that I wanted to add some wording, I wanted the word Spice to be on my page. After a little thought I had an idea... I know I will add REAL spice to my page. I used P.V.A Glue to spell out the word spice and I then after careful consideration chose to use cinnamon on top of the p.v.a. glue. ( I was going to add chili powder) then I had second thoughts. I wouldn't want that to rub off all over my hands etc!
My plan worked and everything looked good in the end. Although I can't deny that adding the cinnamon to the page was extremely messy.
