Found Objects

Art Journal page for Krazy Island Family

Prompt - June Week 1 - Found Objects

The first thing I did in order to create this art journal page was of course to go and find myself some objects, which I would use in or as part of my page. The objects I found around my home were, a curtain hook, a plastic washer, an old sewing machine foot, a key from a padlock, a button, a feather, an old masking tape roll and a corner from an envelope which I tore off.

I began by painting over the entire page with Liquitex unbleached titanium. Once dry I then added more colour to the background, using some of my found objects to create patterns and shapes into the background.

The paint colours I used were : Artiste - Lush pink, Flesh, Pumpkin, Lilac & Blackberry. Liqiutex - Dioxazine purple.

I allowed the background to dry, I then took my lovely new Crafters workshop mini 6x6 template - Kasbah and I used Liqiutex modeling paste through the template. This added a wonderful texture to my page and the pattern was lovely <3

Allow the modeling paste to dry (or use your heat tool, if you are impatient like me!) Once dry I sprayed Sunkissed Yellow Sprinky's (Spray Ink)  in random places across my page. At this point I still had no idea where I was going with this page, I was just having too much fun playing :)

I decided to use some pink scrap paper, I used the masking tape roll to draw around and I then cut out the circle shape and glued it down to my page.

Then using the sewing machine foot, I painted it with white paint and then I used it to print. It created a semi circle shaped marks on my page which I liked. I thought that using the 'found objects' to print with was a good idea,

so I then added a glue dot to the end of a pencil and I stuck the key to the end of the pencil and used it to print key shapes to my page. I also did the same thing using the button. This technique actually worked out quite well.

Next I took a basic black biro pen and doodled flowers all over the whole page, I love to draw flowers! I then used a white posca paint pen to add highlights to my flowers.  I glued down the torn pieces from the envelope and added some black borders stickers to the page.

Finally I journaled inbetween all of the flowers, I then added the date and a quote : " Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful" and then page was complete!

Enjoy :)
