Friendship
Journal 52 Week 31: Friendship.
This page had me stumped, I really didn't know what I wanted to do...
I have however for a while now wanted to draw a deer, I don't really create 'cute' art and I wanted to give it a try. My family and I went to Longleat house and safari park and my children really enjoyed feeding the deers through the window of our car. I decided to use a photo we took on that day of a very friendly deer as reference for my deer drawing.
I drew out the deer, and then using craft paint painted over it to add some colour. I didn't really like how the deer looked, so instead I decided to go over the painted deer with coloured pastels. I found the chalky, matt finish more appealing and it made the deer's coat appear more realistic.
I used the left over paint which I had originally used to paint my deer, to paint over almost half of my art journal page. Once this way dry I added scrapbook paper from my stash to the remainder of the background.
I then used stencils/bubble wrap to add more patterns and interest to the background.
I cut out my deer and glued him down to my page, I also glued down some scrapbooking strips, one of which I threading with ribbon before I stick it down. The page was coming together nicely but of course my little deer had no face at this point.... I drew on his face and then added more detail and shading to the deer.
Finally I stuck down some 3d sticker's which I have had for about 5 years! I thought its about time I use these. I then spelt out the word FRIENDS using some epoxy stickers and
completed the page with some upside down journaling and the date.
