Week 6 Journal 52 Prompt : The Art Of Love Letters

I can't say that I have ever received a love letter. I have been with my fiance David for 20 yrs. We have been engaged for 18 of those 20 years and yet we are still not married.

Romance is not high on our priority list. I know he loves me and vice versa. However I can't deny that sometimes I do wish he was a little more romantic.

For this art journal page I began by writing down my thoughts and feelings about love, and what love means to me. Love doesn't always have to mean long thoughtful love letters and gifts of flowers, chocolates etc... I find and feel loved in lots of other ways, a kind gesture, a warm smile or a loving hug.

After I had finished writing down my thoughts I then turned the page upside down, I didn't want anyone to easily read what I had wrote. I then took out my red acrylic paint and covered the entire page. Then using black acrylic paint I used an old credit card to drag the paint over the page in certain areas. I decided that I wanted some drips down the page but I didn't want them to be as strong as the black paint. I watered down some black acrylic paint and used it to create drips down the page.

Of course a page about love had to include a heart. I cut out a heart shape from  some plain paper. Then I used some copper and bronze coloured acrylic paints to colour in the heart. After drying the heart I added a bronze eyelet and some black ribbon,  I then glued it to my page. Finally I used some gold coloured peel off sticker's, to add the date and the word "LOVE? "
