Without Words

This Page was also created following a Jenniebellie Prompt from her Monthly Challenge Group.

The Prompt was Getting to know you. Without using words to describe yourself. I Started by creating a blue background, as blue is one of my favourite colours. I then wanted to add a tree to the page as I have a great love of nature, trees in particular. They are beautiful, they stand for hundreds of years through the tests of time. I love watching the trees outside my window as they change through each season, its truly magical.

I Painted on the basic tree shape that I wanted in yellow acrylic paint. Then I used Orange/Green/Dark Blue acrylics paints to scratch over the yellow paint using a palette knife. I find this effect particularly effective in making the appearance of tree bark . I sketched out a face and then I made a light blue wash

of acrylic paint which I used to colour over the face.

I Added some musical notes & hearts to the tree branches to represent my love of music. At the base of the tree I turned one of the tree roots into a paintbrush, Because I love art. I also added twelve little figures standing at the base of the tree, these are to symbolise my family members and I then added one more little figure, which is flying up into the sky. This little figure is to represent my late father.

This page was created first, but is part of a two page spread. The images on the two pages are  not meant to link together. However I chose to use a similar colour palette

for both pages so that when viewing the book it is more pleasing to the eye. The second page is called Revisitation
